About
Artist Statement
Owen Emerson Prucey is a Japanese-American documentary and fine-art photographer based in Pittsburgh and a Joyce Bowie Scott Scholar at Carnegie Mellon University. Operating from an "in-between" cultural vantage point, his work investigates memory, isolation, and structural vulnerability, bridging personal history with broader societal shifts from both the inside and out. His work provokes questions for both himself and the viewer.
His background is shaped by medical intervention for pectus excavatum at the Mayo Clinic, alongside the institutional exhibition of his work through the Mayo Clinic Loaned Artwork Program. His work has been recognized internationally through the International Photography Awards, Life Framer, and his photography was featured in L'Œil de la Photographie twice. Additionally, his photographs have been highlighted by Lenscratch Fine Art Daily and featured in eight juried exhibitions.
